Other Summer Acivities

As you know, AIESEC also runs in the holidays. It has to. It's the time where the most of the Exchanges happen. That's why I can need your support!!

It's not much work, but a bigbig help for me!! And because you all are different, I have also different tasks. For every one something suitable :-)

  • there are again two Job Questionnairs waiting for being matched!
    • you can see and read many CV's, you can decide which one is the best, and you learn where the HR looks frist. It can help you for yourself a lot!!
    • you can do this work also at home
  • New Interns!!
    • In August will come a few new Interns, it would be great if many people would join to pic them up at the airport!!!! Please write in you agenda:
    • 4.8. (Zeit unknown yet) Xiao Liang fromChina
    • 10.8. 13.45 Airport Basel Jordan Sanders from Amerika
    • 20.8. (unknown yet) franz. BHF Raphaël Cosnard from France
    • 29.8. 22.50 Airport Basel Si Zhou from China
  • In the next few days I will look for an Internflat, where all the new Interns can live together somewhere. If someone want to help me or have a view in many Basel Houses (i love it to watch how other people live) it would be a big help to me, if you would join!!!
I'm looking foreward for your mail (natanja.john[at]bs.aiesec.ch) and to work with you and also have some fun!!!

Summer programm in Basel

Hi together,

If don't know, what to do tomorrow and you want finally finish your "Things you have to do in Basel"-list, than you can join me tomorrow (26.7.). I will go for swimming in the Rhein. Approx. on 3 pm. Please send me a sms.
  • A MUST is the official Rheinschwimmen on the 12. August!!! There will be hundrets of people swimming down the Rhein.

For the "1. August"= Swiss National Day which is on the 31. Juli I won't organize a special Intern-Meeting, because it's always complicate to be a big group in the crowded city. But I can give you some hints for that evening:
  • 19.00 - 21.15 Rubber Boat Racing
21.15 - 22.30 the Band "Featherlike" (Kulturfloss "im Fluss") = programm
    21:30 - 21.45 1. Vorführung Feuerlöschboot
    22:00 - 22.15 2. Vorführung Feuerlöschboot
22.40 - 23.00 Sternenleuchten (=little stars (candle) will fly in the dark sky to think of the people who have leprosy)
  • Ab 23.15 Big Fireworks
  • And if you finally wanna hear how real Swiss Sound sounds, from 19.00 everywhere there will be some "Jodler" and "Alphornbläser" (if you can't remeber what that is read you "survival kit" or just come in the city and enjoy!
  • The best places to be for the fireworks is the "Mittlere Brücke" or under the "Kaserne" at the board of the River.
If someone feels lost or don't know with whom to go, for sure we can go together (call me or send me a mail).

Now the summer can finally start in Basel! Specially because of "the Floss" for those who never saw that: It's a raft next to the boarder on Klein-Basel and Mittlere Brücke. The raft is the stage for the next few weeks concerts. Every evening there will be someone playing or singing or just making music. It's really great and relaxing!!

An other hightlight on the 15. August will be "Em Bebby Sy Jazz" that means: the Basleman his Jazz. And the City will have everywhere little stages with great Jazz music from everywhere of the world.

Good to know:
  • Swimming in the Rhein: link
    • Every Tuesday you can swim with someone professional: link
  • Swiss National Day link
  • "Das Floss" Concerts on the Rheine: link
  • Programm what happens August in Basel: link
Sorry that everything is in German.

And if you like movies and there is some great weather like today, you can see here some open air cinema around Basel:
And if you just want to chill in the evening without music, the bar which is always the best choice (even if it's raining): Chill am Rhy

So, if you want to organize something, please let the other ones also know.

Have a beautiful weekend!!

My eXchange Experience; First Five Weeks in Italy

My impressions
My first 5 weeks here were great. I got to know a lot of people of the host LC and of the companies collaborating with them.
My Boss is great and really open minded and helpful caring
The Garda lake is a great place for every sort of activity and one can really enjoy the nature around here
The life style here is just great, as in the common stereotypes….Dolce Vita…
The business practices, however are still very professional and demanding
For my personal point of view I am having a great experience and a time of personal growth

Success Nr. 4 BBQ

Many where invited to our BBQ, and guess what, many people came!
At about 17:00 there where about 10 people present. The BBQ started. I had the Best Task==> Grill-Master.

One to two hours later... more and more people arrived at the BBQ. We started playing, making jokes n simply having fun.
As the match began the atmosphere started to change. Some where for the Portugues others for Germany. The first time I saw the real face of certain members... some where focused and supporting as if their life depended on it.

After the match up to approximatley 24:00 more and more people joined. At the end we where bout 40 people jaming, partying and just having a great time. It is a great pleasure to mension that we even had a delegation of Fribourg. It was great having you guys!

At sharply 24:00 our Baby in the EB Fabian celebrated his Birthday. Happy Birhtday presents and congratulation where given to our loved and proacive VP.

The party was not over jet but soon. Nicolas neighbours interrupt the party. We where making to much noise.
Thanks Nicolas for letting us use your appartment for a great day/night!!!!

The Party continued in the City... no comment ;D to that part of the evening

Success Nr. 3 Last LC Meeting

The last LCM in the past semester was a very touching moment for me. Our wonderful Intern Sunny(working in Lonza) held a presentation on China. It was obviously not a very easy moment for her, since Day's before China had a lot of deaths to morn from the earthquake. Sunny still managed to show as China from a side, I believe, few of us had ever witnessed.
Her present to the LC a hand-woven Decoration touched me. Thanks Sunny.

The Wednesday was also used to think about the first half of the Semester. What have we achieved? What went wrong and what can we change and improve for the next half to come? I will shurly give you more inputs after the EB -Day which will be held in the first week of August.

That Wednesday evening was also a moment of emotions. Not only did we have a little delegation of bern(including Anna and Simone from the MC) rescuing their mister Mingel. Or a Salome who knew China and chinese just as the intern holding the presentation.

That Wednesday was also an LCM to say thanks to various people leaving our beloved LC. People who have shaped and invested a lot of time the LC. People upon who's shoulder's we now stand and have become Giants!

Thanks to every Single one of YOU, like always may the Sky be the Limit

Success Nr. 2 PBOX Presentation on Business and Ethics

It seems to only get better with the PBOX Presentations. Reto and Kathrin gave a very interesting insight on the Definitions Finance and Ethics.

Introduction to the Subject was creative and innovative:
If you find a purse with 1000 .- with all the informations needed to hand it back, would you give it back?

Thanks to Eduard Barbolin for his support as a PM.

We had very special guests at our LCM. Chris former LCP from Lugano and Szabi visited our Meeting. We also took the promo Pics for our little Project "the People of LC Basel".

Hopefully the Memebers of the Project will soon be matched.

Success Nr. 1 PBOX Presentation on Aids/HIV in Africa

This wonderful Presentation was held by Florence and Mikele! I personally didn't expect it to be as interesting as it was! I always think/taught that I knew every thing I needed to know. The Presentation caused me, and I believe most of the members, to think.  Hopefully also to act.

The Presentation was one of the major  criteria for going on a eXchange. I am glad to announce that Florence one of the Teammember of the PBOX left for an interesting Project in Tanzania.

Thanks to Michael Schmitt for his inputs and Engagement as PM.
